Filler material

I bought a partially completed Pocketship and brought it home last week. I’ve been setting up my assembly area and organizing all the kit parts. I found three bags of material that I assume is filler. The first two are very fine white and brown powders- like found in the West Marine repair kits. Those make sense. The other bag looks like vermiculite. Perhaps it was included by mistake or is it used somewhere?

BTW, the boat was assembled up to the point of the inside being epoxied and painted with floor boards installed. It all looks pretty good, so I’m looking forward to carrying on with the project.

The stuff that looks like vermiculate IS vermiculate. It was used to safely pack the hardener. My bag is still sitting in my garden shed.

The white stuff is Cell-O-Fill, used mostly for gluing. BTW, the kit probably had twice as much as needed.
The brown stuff is wood flour, for filleting.

Good luck with your build!

Thanks Doug!

So I can gift that to my wife to make potting soil. See, she did get something out of this deal.

That's one problem with a partially built kit - some things are out of place. I'll probably have a few more initial questions as I finish getting set up.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the sails are tanbark. I like that look.
