PS Owners,

Have any of you used an electric outboard on your Pocketship? Can you share pros and cons? Would you buy again?

Best,
Brent

I'm also interested in knowing. Over the winter i need to decide what type of motor to get for my new boat (and how to mount it).

My first outboard motor was a Tohatsu 3.5 ....the ethanol gasoline totally messed it up. This past April I purchase the Torkeedo long shaft. It is so quiet I absolutely love it. It pushes the boat just fine .I only need the motor to get in and out of harbor so it is plenty strong enough. At first I was concern about the range of the battery. But I have yet to use the battery below the 60 % . I would highly recommended. My boat ( Naoned ) is now 10 years old and getting her first refit..

Another data point. A friend has a Macgregor (25?) and uses the Torqueedo 1103 to get in and out of the harbor on the Chesapeake Bay. His boat is a good bit bigger than the Pocketship, but it does well. He does carry a spare battery, but we have not needed it.

I'm thinking of using a 24 volt trolling motor.

How exactly did you mount it to the boat? Does the throttle handle swing up enough to allow the motor to be tilted out of the water?

I used the typical motor bracket that I originally installed for 3.5 Tohatsu and did not have any problem... Send me your email address at : [email protected] and I will send you a video of it in action if you want.
