I epoxied the underside of the cabin top in the basement and realized I'm pretty much out of Pocketship tasks until the weather warms back up in a couple months (the Pocketship hull is being built in an unheated barn). But I have a nice big basement area all set up for boat building (where I built the rudder, tiller, mast, etc), so I just ordered a Passagemaker Take-Apart which I should be able to build there. I'm a bit worried about starting a second boat while the current one is not done, but I convinced myself (and my wife!) that it makes sense. It looks like there was a Passagemaker forum but it seem to be gone. If any of you have built one and have pointers, I'd be interested in hearing them. Sorry if I'm a bit off-topic with this.

Well, here it is two months later and I launched my Passagemaker today. I’m glad I took it on. I learned a lot about fiberglass, resin, paint, and varnish, as well as my limits as a builder. Should have named her “Good ‘Nuff”. I think a novice builder would do well to build a kayak or dinghy before taking on a Pocketship. Timing worked out. It’s just getting warm enough to restart the Pocketship.

Thanks- one good thing about this side project was experimenting with finishes. I like the Sea Green against the varnish. I think I’ll use the green on the Pocketship as well. I also tried out the Cetol marine finish on the spars. I’ll add some pictures and comments on that in another thread next week.
