Bobstay and the Trailex trailer

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Has anyone adjusted their trailex trailer so that they can leave the bobstay permanently connected? Am I correct that all I have to do is to loosen the bolts on the crosspiece (not the one with the winch) and slide the foot forward, letting the bow bumper come down below the bow eye? Essentially making that strut much more horizontal than it is now?

I’m asking because I have very little experience with trailers, and I have visions of the boat climbing into the back seat during an emergency stop if I make a mistake.

Thanks,

Russell

I think it is considered Bad to have that bumper below the bow eye, for exactly the reason you mentioned.
If I were making by boat again, I might install two bow eyes: one for the bobstay, and another about 3 inches
below it for the trailer.

It is important to me to leave the bobstay attached when trailering (it stays in place all season). Otherwise, all it would take is for one time to forget to attach the bobstay before sailing and the bowsprit would break. "The art of the sailor is to leave nothing to chance." I have a chain (visible in the attached photo) that attaches from the Bow eye vertically down to the trailer. Hopefully that would keep the boat from riding forward during a fast stop.
