Hi all,

This question is for better seamen than myself. My son and I love watching the videos of speedboats going through Haulover inlet (& etc) on Youtube, with thankfully few accidents but plenty of people going too fast, no life jackets, etc. For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hH3nsTqdAd8

There are precious few videos of slow displacement boats in these conditions. Since I will never be attempting this myself with my life on the line..... I can't rely on practical experience here. How would Pocketship perform under these conditions (assuming the current wasn't fast enough to prevent you from making headway)?

Those Youtube videos are taken when the conditions are especially bad. Look at this video, which shows much smoother conditions:

I bet most of the time the wakes of big boats will bother you more than the actual surf. The Pocketship is pretty high and dry and can't swamp like a lot of those power boats,
but really choppy conditions might keep an outboard motor from working well, and I don't think sailing through a crowded channel is a good idea.

Good points, Doug. Thanks. Not that I will ever put them to the test :) I'm exclusively a lake sailor myself.
