Outboard Bracket

Postby John C. Harris on Fri Nov 06, 2009 1:23 pm

I've built a prototype outboard bracket for PocketShip. (My nose is still eight feet in the air about adding an engine to such a nice little sailboat, but there you are.)

I don't have dimensioned drawings of the bracket yet, or photos of it mounted on the boat, but we did throw the assembly instructions up on our website:

Hope to have more complete instructions and photos once I get up the nerve to bolt the thing on my boat's transom. It's certainly elegant and strong and will be fine for a little Honda 4-stroke 2hp.

Did you use any thickener to keep the epoxy from draining out of the top part of the fiberglass and pooling in the bottom of the mold?

Just came from the local marine dealer here, That is one sweet little outboard. Guess I will be ordering more epoxy
Did you get the extended shaft ?
Can't wait for the build notes.

I have one of those 2 hp 4-cycle Honda for my Penobscot 14. It's a real nice engine. Moves the Penobscot at hull speed (almost 5 knots). A little noisy. I may use it on Tattoo, my PocketShip. What do you think of my sketch of a transom mount in a "cutout"? See my recent posting at "Outboard aux. alt"
