2nd and 3rd coats of epoxy

Postby SHyland83 on Thu Feb 26, 2009 6:08 pm

I'm about to start glassing the inside of the hull panels and was wondering if anyone does the 2nd and 3rd coats of epoxy with a plastic spreader instead of a foam roller. The foam rollers are just a little expensive and i feel like i could do it quicker with a spreader. Are there any down sides to this? Will it be more even if i use a roller? thanks in advance.

Hello,
Yes you can use a plastic spreader for all coats. You will find that less epoxy is wasted, and if you're careful, sanding will be easier.
I've built several kayaks but I'm yearning to get at a sailboat some day. Keep on posting the progress.
