Outboard aux. power

With the right outboard motor you can probably avoid installing an outboard motor "bracket" on the transom. TOHATSU has a 6 hp "Sail Pro" with an extra long shaft for a 25" trnasom. I tried it on my transom (before fiberglassing the hull) and the cavitation plate fits nicely about 2" below the "empty" waterline, or about 4" to 5" below the load waterline. My plan is to build the transom and skirt as designed, then carefully make a removeable "cutout" just where the motor clamps will attach (transom reinforced with 3/4" plywood on the inside where the clamps grip and 1/2" on the outboard side of the motor clamps to protect the transom from scaring). The motor is only 59 lbs and could be manhandled off the transom and into the cabin if you wanted to sail without it hanging off the transom. A "topping lift" could assist. While stowed, the transom/skirt "cutout" can be replaced to maintain the beautiful lines of the transom. The 3.1 gal gas tank fits nicely in the aft end of the foot well which is seldom used. Attached is a drawing showing the engine in place. Comments anticipating problems welcome.
