How good at sailing do you have to be a professional chartering skipper/ captain or crew? Like, do you have to be national sailing or/and what qualifications do you need?
thanks.

As in all things in life you can call yourself anything, but legally the minimum is Coast Guard certification.
The guy puttering around the harbor in the water taxi must be certified to carry passengers for hire (think its called a 6PAC).
To have a captains cert takes a lot more knowledge.
The sailing association also has several levels of certifications , so after a lot of book work. Do you feel comfortable being responsible for the lives of your passengers and crew ?
