G’Day Bill,
I elected to build an anchor locker in the space between the stem and BH1. The space is large enough for the rope, 15’ of chain and a small sand anchor. if weight distribution is an issue I can remove the chain and store under the floorboards next to the CB case and relocate the sand anchor to the lazaret. If a larger anchor is required It can be stored on the foredeck.
The space did reduce the foam buoyancy by around a quarter however I made the locker with a sealed lid and a plug in the drain hole so it still provides buoyancy as an air chamber and can be aired out when not sailing, at anchor or in storage. I also re-located the round deck hatch in BH1 for bow eye access to the base of the anchor locker.
