Regarding adjustable sail stops, I agree with everyone else - some type of sail stop is a great thing to have, whether a traditional slider or block of wood as shown by Pete.

I had some fun with them over the summer and designed my own. However, to make just a few, they can still be expensive. Just buying a basic thumbscrew alone (in quality stainless steel) can run you as much as $10-15. Same with the sliders, though once the CNC mill is set up you might as well make a bunch. So now I have a bunch of them, and can only figure on dropping so many overboard. To recoup my costs and give everyone else an easy and affordable option, I am selling them for $9 each.

Nice Sean,

I was wondering since the body seems to be made out of some sort of nylon/plastic, would it be possible to drill a small hole in it so a lanyard could be attach so I WON'T drop it over the side?

regards,
Bill

Hey Bill,
Great idea! Yes, the body is made from plastic (same material as that used to make the sail cloth), so it would be very easy to drill a small hole to pass a lanyard through.

Thanks. That's really cool and for only $9 I think I can order a couple of them!

I have a 3D printer, so naturally I had to design and print a track stop. Here it is:

Note that the OpenSCAD source code is included.

I happened to have a 1/4-20 stainless thumbscrew lying around, so I designed the part to use it.
If I had to buy a setscrew, I would probably use a smaller one.
