Overall size?

What are the dimensions of PocketShip rigged and ready to travel on it's Trailex trailer? Overall depth (including trailer and rudder/mast), width, and height (including tabernacle, mast, boom gallows, etc.)?

I found a previous discussion at viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12 and a great drawing at download/file.php?id=16 - but to me the critical dimensions are missing...

Looking at http://www.clcboats.com/shop/products/b ... ailer.html - I can see that the boat/mast/rudder/etc. extends beyond the trailer. I know the trailer itself is 17'10" long and 70" wide (the image above contradicts this and says 89" wide - which is right?).

Looking at http://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/wood ... r-kit.html - I can see that PocketShip itself is 79-1/4" wide, 178" long, and 77-11/16" high.

Will it fit through an 8'x8' doorway? Will it fit in an 12'x24' shed (rigged, folded, on it's trailer)?

Hi Jeff,

The image showing the 89" dimension was the original idea for the trailer but the actual trailex trailer isn't a drop axel and if memory serves me right the wheels are inside the beam of the boat. The 70" sounds more like the correct width. Can't be more acurate since I'll be using an old shorelander from my alumacraft but I'll try taking some measurements in the morning for the overall length of the boat.

You can check out the EZ-Loader trailer I used at this post http://www.pocketship.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=53

It has a slight drop axle. It is more trailer than actually needed for Pocketship's weight but there are a couple of advantages. It is wider so that the wheels are mainly outside the beam of the boat and it is long enough that you do not need an extended tongue. My boat is stored in a portable garage with a door height of theoretically 8.5 feet (102") and with the door rolled up as tight as possible I clear the opening by 4 or 5 inches.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jeff,

I used the plans to figure the mast length but the overall length from bowsprit to masthead when folded comes out at 20' 9" give or take a couple inches. Your 12' x 24' shed should work if you don't have more then 3' of trailer tounge past the bowsprit.

You're always welcome to come check out my finished pocketship in Medford.... I have the problem of a short garage door which I fixed just by making the tabernacle removable. Although during the summer months, I am just leaving it out in the driveway.

Cheers,
Adam

The portable garage I used is 12 x 24 x 10 and has lots of room and is shown here http://pocketshipadventure.blogspot.com/2010/07/proper-home.html

The garage so far has survived 90 km winds and a long cold snowy Canadian winter. In the spring I barely had to tighten the ratchets for the cover.
I have seen people criticize the durability of these kind of garages but I think a lot of it has to to do with careful installation. I used long spiral anchors at all 7 ribs so I am confident it is not going anywhere in the near future.
