Camp table . .

Tired of eating off your lap? Modify a typical folding "camp table" for use on your PocketShip. The folding table is available at almost any camping supply store. It's light and its legs will fit into PocketShip's footwell. The only mod required is to cut off the tabs on one pair of the legs.

I made the table cover with a piece of 1/2" plywood cut to fit the curved edges of the table. The edges were made of 3/16" mahogany wide enough to provide a 1/4" lip on the checkerboard side. Since I wanted a backgammon board on the reverse, the edge pieces were made wide enough to allow 3/16" in addition to the 1/4" strips to define the edges of the playing fields and separate the inner and outer fields. The squares and triangles were painted on the plywood. The edges on the backgammon side keep the top from sliding off of the table. And (on the checkerboard) side edges keep dishware (or chess pieces) from sliding off when upset by a passing wake.

It all folds up and nests nicely for stowage on the forward port side of the cabin.
