Fiberglass inside of transom?

Postby SHyland83 on Tue Mar 17, 2009 5:40 am

I'm just finishing up glassing the inside of the side hull panels and can't figure out from the book if i am also supposed to glass the inside of the sapele transom. I would guess yes, but just making sure.

Your assumption is absolutely correct, check the the photo at the top of page 140 and you can see the fiberglass all the way up to the top of the transom. I did not order the kit and therefore do not have sapele for my transom but was able to order a nice piece of ribbon sliced tiama that I hope will look just as nice.

I think that the photo on the top of page 140 shows the fiberglass tape joining on the side hull panels.
I would be suppressed if a 18mm transom would require glass on both sides, considering the bulkheads are 9mm and no glass.

I stand corrected, I mistook sanded epoxy for sanded fiberglass in some of the manual's photos. The photos on page 89 give a good idea of how high up the fiberglass goes on the transom and the rest of the interior.
