Hi All,
Future Pocket Ship builder here:
I was wondering if anyone has any photos or video of their PS in foul, stormy and/or heavy conditions? I have read some occurrences by members on this board but I'd like to see how she handles in these conditions.

Anything is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I am also a future pocketship builder as well. I noticed you are in San Diego, I am in Perris, practically neighbors when you consider how many are located on the east coast. I don't think I will begin my boat for at least a year, what is your timeline.

Yeah, Perris isn't too far. We need more west coast builders!
We are looking at beginning construction mid to late January for my dad's birthday and to be completed within a year. My brothers and I are funding the project/build as a gift. Since I'm the only brother in town, I get to help build it! :)

It's really hard to get video or still camera shots in "foul weather"! Lord knows I've tried.

This thread has some good photos and discussion about big breeze: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=161&hilit=heavy+air

This video was taken in 18 knots of wind or so, which isn't a gale but probably more than most PocketShip builders will venture out in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apxT88i1UVA

John, thank you so much for the reply, pictures and information! I believe that will suffice my curiosity :) It really hardly ever blows over 20 knots in the summer in San Diego. I guess I wanted to see how she does in open ocean swells as I would love to sail her out to Catalina Island. I'm sure we will be fine :)

In terms of difficulty of filming while sailing in foul weather, this might be a viable solution: http://gopro.com/hd-hero3-cameras ...attached to this: http://gopro.com/camera-mounts/chest-mount-harness ...or this: http://gopro.com/camera-mounts/head-strap-mount/

These are very popular amongst river rapid/waterfall kyakers
