Bottom Paint "orange peel"

Postby tj55 on Sun May 05, 2013 5:35 pm

I have just put a first coat of bottom paint on my PocketShip. I'm using Interlux TriLux 33 with the recommended 3/8" nap roller. I have never used antifouling bottom paint before and am wondering if the "orange peel" effect is normal or am I applying the paint incorrectly? I am used to "rolling and tipping" with Interlux Brightsides paint to get a smooth paint surface but bottom paint (or at least the one I am using) doesn't seem conducive to that technique. Any suggestions or is an "orange peel" effect the price you pay for bottom paint?

If you can post pics, that might help people weigh in :)
