one footwell side panel mis-cut

Postby DanaDCole on Mon Feb 02, 2015 2:09 pm

Has anyone else had this happen? One of the footwell side panels in my kit is not properly cut. It is the correct length and is of the proper width at the aft end, but about two inches forward of that it dips down about 1/2" or so. It then tapers back toward the proper width until it gets to the forward end, but is still almost 1/16" too narrow at that point. I corrected for the error with the placement of the cleat, but I just don't see how this is possible on only one panel given the kits are CNC cut. It has to have happened to other kits. I hope the rest of this kit is OK.

That is weird. Mine was a kit build also and I found that everything was almost a perfect fit. The only problem I had was the backrests were about 1" too short but it might have been something I did while building.

I found my back rests were a little bit short also. The manual says they are cut oversized but I didn't need to trim anything. I split the difference fore and aft and filled the gap with thickened epoxy. Then covered those filled gaps with fillets.

Everything else has been cut exactly right or oversized when noted.
