Thanks Dmitriy for the reminder to roughen up the epoxy in the depressions. It worked well and I now have that elusive uniform gray -very satisfying. And Jon, thanks for the microballon tip. I haven’t used them before. I used wood flour this time and it took a lot of sanding to get things even again. I ordered micro balloons for next time - should save a lot of sanding time!
