Just got word from John H. that the becket blocks will be ample and could be used. Interestingly, he said that the reason he didn't go with them himself is that with they allow for more tangles.

As to the boat weight - when loaded with gear and people it would be substantially more than 800 lbs. Still, it's good to hear that becket blocks will work.
