They are turnbuckles from West Marine. I really like them especially after reading about problems guys were having breaking their bulkheads at the tabernacles- due mostly because their shrouds were not tight enough. I can promise after what I put the boat through last week if your shrouds are tight the design of the boat is fine.

For the most part when I was near other boats I was going downwind. In the lighter winds I stayed with the smaller boats. When the wind picked up I passed them all. When the wind got really strong the big boats went by me ;) At no time did I feel like I was in the wrong boat.
