I glued the keelson to the keel a couple days ago and noticed that it overhangs the keel in the rear by about 3/16, which is not a lot. Should it be flush?

thanks

Is the keelson pushed as far forward as possible? Is there a gap between the front of the trunk and the front of the cutout on the keelson? There should be as bulkhead #4 keys into the slot that it forms. If you answered yes to these then your pretty much golden.

Yes, I pushed the keelson forward, so there is a slot for bulkhead #4. I was just noticing the in the stern, the keelson hanged over a little and in pictures I have seen, it looks flush all the way down from the transom.

Yep. I think mine was a tad long also. I trimmed it just before I flipped it to fiberglass the bottom. Sounds like your fine.

Thanks Bill.

With the keelson hanging over the keel a little, the whole boat hangs over a little. I am thinking that I will add a small strip to the keel to extend it before fiberglassing. That way I can even up the back of the keel with the transom. From looking at various pictures of other boats, it looks even all the way down the stern of the boat.
