Back stay

Has anyone installed a backstay/extra stay to hold up the boom instead of building a boom gallows? Thinking of not having the boom gallows...thoughts? Feedback?

Thanks,

Dan

What you're talking about is called a topping lift. A back stay (along with the forestay and side stays) helps hold a mast up. A topping lift holds a boom up when the sail is lowered. Anyway, I don't see why a topping lift wouldn't work on the Pocketship, but you would still need a crutch or something to hold the mast while trailering. The gallows is part of what drew me to the Pocketship in the first place as it makes trailering easier.

I installed Lazy Jacks basically as described by Pete (username Tattoo). You can search the forum to find his write-up.
