What magnetic compasses are pocketship sailors putting on their vessels? Please be specific as to make and model. I'm looking mount one on the bulkhead.
Thanks,
Bob

...and specifically where are you all mounting your compass? Photos would be much appreciated. The aft cabin bulkhead would seem to be an obvious spot - but that inclined bulkhead also seems a choice spot for passengers to lean back on while sitting on the forward cockpit seat, looking aft.

Thanks,
Mark

Bob,

I installed a Ritchie compass mounted on the aft cabin bulkhead starboard side. At first I thought it may be in the way of seating but it is not. Also made a composite cover for the inside/back side of the compass. Picture attached.

Jeff,
Do you remember what model you installed. It looks like the "Explorer."

I used the same model - ordered on sale at West Marine.

My picture is not as good, but same concept.

I mounted on the port side. I am right handed and tend to steer mostly with my right hand and sit portside most of the time. I can see it better on the port side of the cabin wall.

Same here. I carved out a bit of the hatch slide covers to give more reclining back room, but probably not needed.

Here is a better picture I should have posted to begin with. Under way s-Slightly healed to port - piloting from the port side.

I equipped my pocketship with the standard white Dacron sails. You can see the nice clear piece in the jib that comes with the sail kit - as ordered from CLC website.

You can also see the bolt configuration I used to hold a detachable tabernacle inside the cabin from this view.
