Pocketship in the UK?

Postby SMHolmans on Sat Nov 18, 2017 1:43 pm

Good evening from Oxford in the United Kingdom. I retired last year and I now intend to do something which I have been planning for a long time ... build PocketShip! Is there anyone here in the UK who has built or intends to build this lovely vessel?

Good evening,

Welcome aboard you will enjoy the experience. Are you building from plan or Kit? Tassiepete is building from kit and I am building from Plan.

I'm in Queensland Australia (sub tropical), however I would recommend Tassiepete, https://pocketshipkermadec.wordpress.com who is in Tasmania, Australia, and is working in the same climatic conditions as Oxford however in opposite end's of the world. That is Summer (Oxford) is winter in Tassie etc.

Cheers

Thanks for getting in touch. I had already seen Tassiepete's work and intend to chart his progress from the beginning. Looks like I could learn a lot from him! I will be building from a kit supplied by the CLC distributor in the UK, probably after Christmas. I have yet to order it - I need to eject my son and his mate from my workshop first to reclaim the space!

Tassiepete's blog is excellent. Great workmanship and clear narrative. This will be my checkpoint.

Good evening from Oxford, England, UK. I started my own PocketShip build this week - at last! I have purchased a kit from the CLC distributor for the UK, and it all looks good so far. I'm working on the keel assembly, and enjoying it immensely!
