Wet Okoume

Postby jwv630 on Mon Sep 24, 2018 10:43 am

Hi Guys

Have been storing my Okoume plywood in a shed under a waterproof tarp. The shed’s roof developed a big hole and some of the plywood is real wet; some soaked thru i spots. It’s probably been in that condition fot at least a week. Concerned about dry rot after it drys out and/or that the wood will never be full strength.

Thinking of bringing the wood into my home to dry it out and srore it. Maybe put a heat lamp on the worst spots to expidite drying...?

Do you think the wood is salvagable? Ideas, opinions, concerns much appreciated.

Jimmy,
I am not a plywood expert, so you may want to talk to the guys at CLC.
I would fix the issue with how it is getting wet and bringing it inside if you have the room.
I am not sure I would try to force the drying process, but let it dry naturally.

Are these the CNC cut pieces or full sheets of uncut plywood?

thanks

Hi Ron

Thanks. Yes, I'll call CLC tomorrow; yes, the wet pieces are the one's included in the kit from CLC.
