4" Glass Tape Question

Postby SMHolmans on Sun Jun 09, 2019 12:24 pm

Hi all. My kit came with a 50 yard (46 metre) roll of 9 ounce x 4" (305 gsm x 7.6 cm) fibreglass tape, as well as the huge roll of 6 ounce fibreglass fabric which I have been using to 'glass the interior of the lower hull.

I am nearly done with the lower hull and my attention has turned to what comes next, and I can see very few calls for 4" tape in the build manual - certainly not 50 yards' worth!

So, my question is … what is the 4" tape for? It is listed in the Materials List on page 13, but the manual is otherwise largely silent on how to use it!

Grateful for any light that you can shed on this.

Yep... I had a lot left over too. In the years since building my PocketShip I've been using it in other projects. I also had a ton of the wood flour and silica left over. I wouldn't worry about it.

Good Luck,
Bill

Thanks Bill. I had also been wondering where the enormous amount of wood flour and silica was going to be used!
