When to call it Quits

Postby friz on Tue Jun 25, 2019 5:56 pm

At 75, not in the greatest physical shape, and after 3 unsuccessful attempts to get the keel aligned correctly, I've decided that this project is not for me. I need to be sailing not messing around fixing stuff. Discouraged and disappointed in my results and having spent more than $1200 at this site, I have abandoned the PocketShip project. I have many materials including 12 properly sized pieces of BS-1088 Okouma cut from 6- 4' x 8' 1/4-in sheets. These pieces have puzzle cut ends to give 16 feet lengths without scarfing. The particulars, pictures, and material descriptions are available on Craigslist at Minneapolis, MN or Madison, WI under the subheading, "boat parts" and "Building a Stitch & Glue sailboat, kayak, canoe?"

Hi Friz,
Probably a tough decision, but it’s important to know when to call it a day. Hopefully the experience wasn’t too awful and you should consider yourself lucky that you escaped at just $1,200. I think most on this forum (including me) have “invested” a lot more than that.
