Looking for a source of lead (Pb)

Lots of analog TVs are getting tossed this year and apparently many of the older ones use lead as a shield around the tube (reportedly 4-7 lbs each!)

So, if my memory serves me correctly, we need 91lbs of lead for PocketShip and that translates into roughly 20 old analog TVs.

Anyone have any experience extracting lead from analog TVs?

I got all the lead I needed from local tire dealers. They were glad to sell me old tire weights for about $.20/lb. I think that's where most of us builders are getting it. Jer http://gallery.me.com/jermcmanus

Due to heavy investing in metals since the recession, retail lead is around $2/lb right now. I've paid anywhere from "nothing" to $0.50/lb for lead from Mexican and Ma&Pa tire shops. The corp chains have buyers and claim to be Fed regulated making those places impossible. I bought 6-25-lb bags of lead shot on sale for about $40/(25lb)bag for the ballast at Cabela's. Good luck to any new viewers.
