OK,
This feels like a stupid question.
But, the manual says to apply 2-3 coats of epoxy to all the bulkheads ahead of assembly.

The smaller bulkheads, however, will then be glassed after fillets.
Then 2 more fill coats.
So these will end up with 5-6 coats?

What am I missing?
Also I'm glassing both sides of Bulkhead 2

Hi Mark,
I did give All the bulkheads a coat of epoxy before assembly. I thought about it later and would consider at least coating all the edge grains of the bulkheads before assembling and then making sure all surfaces got covered before painting. I had some trouble getting the surfaces below the floor level sanded before doing the fillets and glass work to give a good mechanical bond and think just covering the open end grain areas would make things a bit easier for the smaller bulkheads.

I gave each of the bulkheads 2 coats of epoxy before installing them. That also included the cleats that are attached to them. When I installed the fiberglass on the bottom pieces, it does go up the bulk heads, so it will get more epoxy to fill the weave. So you are right some pieces could get 5-6 coats in some places. On bulkhead #2 watch out for the height of the floor cleat. There was an issue with location / height. There is a entry on this forum.

I'm thinking I will go ahead and pre-coat but put the cleats on last.

This will make filleting, glassing, sanding much easier but will require fitting in the cleats at the ends, which will be visible outboard of the floorboards.
So I'll have to mess with filler and sanding there. But I think that's a good trade off.
