Why so much fiberglass tape?

PostPosted: Wed Apr 07, 2021 9:56 pm
Hello,

I'm well underway working on the upper hull, and I realized that I have applied all the fiberglass tape that the manual mentions:
in the front compartment, at the bottom of the rear cabin wall, and between the upper and lower hull pieces. This took at most
15 yards, but the kit came with 50 yards of the stuff. So, why do they include so much? I imagine I'll apply some more on the bottom of the hull,
but there is no way I'll need more than half of it.

I had lots left over too. Since PpcketShil, I used it for seams on a Jimmy Skiff, and Tubby Tug and a Clancy. Got a few more boats worth, I figure.

I noticed that 50 yards is the only size they sell - maybe that's why...
