"Piccolo" - does it float?

Postby dbeck on Fri May 24, 2024 3:17 am

Dear Builders,

no, our Pocketship is by far not ready; there is no rig yet. However, we had picked up our trailer recently. And after our boat was sitting on the trailer, we could not resist taking the boat to the ramp to check out its prime feature: Does it float? For an unofficial pre-launch and recovery we took a day off during the week, the calm situation at the ramp was beneficial. Actually, things went very well. Yes, it does float and we even covered the first few miles having some cookies in the cockpit.

With our outboard we easily achieved the nominal hull speed, around 5 kts. But things felt better slightly below 4.5 kts, with almost no wake at the stern.

Dietrich

Well done Dietrich, she floats and looks great on the water. Now as John says “time to turn off the noisy smelly thing”.
So get stuck into the spars so you can sail and enjoy the free ride.
Cheers mate
