Hello fellow PocketShippers. It was a good Winter here in Arizona and I'm getting packed up to return to my PocketShip hull in Montana. I was able to accomplish a lot this winter: I cut an ancient Folkboat mast to size & shape, and have completed the boom, yard, bow sprit, boom gallows, mast tabernacle, rudder and tiller. All, except for the mast, are made from mahogany and are glassed and ready for varnish. Fortunately, I was able to stain the sitka spruce mast to match the color of the mahogany parts. It is also ready for varnish. Parts for the hatch, companionway, rub rails and toe rails are cut. Some fitting will be required, so they remain unassembled and unfinished. A good friend made beautiful dead eyes and belaying pins/racks for me. He's a true artist with his lathe. My four opening brass port lights and brass hawse pipes have been milled down to fit the hull thickness of the PocketShip. Can't wait to get back to Montana to work on the boat. I hope this summer will be as productive. Photos are at
