Fiberglassing interior

Postby Dmksails on Tue Jul 16, 2024 7:52 pm

I'm reviewing the manual in preparation of starting my build later this month. A question I have is how far up the bulkheads does the fiberglass go? Does it go over the bulkhead cleats?
If you fiberglass up both sides of the bulkheads, can the cleats be added afterwards as that would greatly simplify the glassing

Thanks!

Hello! I hope page 74 of the manual answers your question. The overlap is about 5 cm. This is needed to strengthen the connection. I overlapped 5-7 cm, or to the level of the cleats, if this distance was less. I didn't cover cleats.

With bulkheads #3..#6, we entirely glassed both full sides of the bulkheads. However we deviated from the manual and glued on the cleats after glassing.

We did not glass bulkheads #1, #2, #7 and #8. However, we added a glass strip of 15cm width over all the fillets to the adjacent floor- and sidepanels. Cleats glued on later.
